Tapered Corks for Cask Keystones
Tapered corks are a premium option that provide a tighter and more secure seal compared with standard straight corks. Their tapered design allows them to fit firmly into the keystone of the cask, which is why many brewers and cellar managers prefer them when a complete seal is required.
Cork remains one of the most unique and sustainable natural materials available. Harvested from the bark of the cork oak tree, it is a renewable resource, with trees carefully stripped on a cycle of 8–10 years. The majority of cork is sourced from responsibly managed forests in southern Europe, particularly Spain and Portugal.
In the cask ale brewing industry, clip corks are commonly used to seal the cask after tapping and once the cask is empty, helping protect the shive during return transit to the brewery and preventing dirt or contamination from entering.
We supply corks in a wide range of shapes and sizes to suit different casks and applications. Alongside our brewing corks, we also produce cork bungs and stoppers for many other uses, including wine bottle corks, bottle stoppers, and specialist sealing products.
