A Family Business in Its Fifth Generation

Established in 1897—the same year as Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee—Burton Wood Turnery (BWT) is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of cask closures.

Originally founded as timber merchants and saw-millers, BWT supplied high-quality English oak to a variety of markets, including European furniture exports. Around 1918, following the Great War, the company expanded into wood turning, focusing on the traditional ale brewing industry—a core part of our business that continues to this day. Over time, we’ve also developed specialist skills in laser engraving and precision finishing, offering bespoke products to meet modern demands.

We are proud members of the British Wood Turners Association, reflecting our ongoing commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
